HEAT STROKE SYMPTOMS

Heat stroke is the form of hyperthermia which is caused due to overheating of body. The word hyperthermia is derived from the Greek word ‘hyper’ means high and ‘thermia’ means heat. The abnormal heating of body will lead to physical and nervous problems. If the heat stroke is not treated properly it may even end fatal. The heat is normally generated in body as result of metabolism, and is able to dissipate the heat by either radiation of heat through the skin or by evaporation of sweat. The major heat stroke symptom is heart attack and heat exhaustion. The most common heat stroke symptoms are high body temperature, rapid pulse, and difficulty in breathing, confusion, disorientation, hallucinations, agitation, and the absence of sweating with hot red or flushed dry skin, seizure, and coma.

The common heat related illness symptoms are heat rashes and heat cramps. Heat rashes are caused due to excessive sweating of skin during hot and humid season. There is a possibility that People of all age groups get affected by heat rashes but is most common in young children. Heat rash will appear like a red cluster of pimples or small blisters. The other, symptom heat cramps will cause arms pain, leg pain or abdomen pain. This mainly affects people who participate in strenuous activities in heat. The people who mainly get affected by heat strokes are infants, athletes, the elderly and outdoor workers who work under hot sun. Dehydration also causes heat stroke and hence it will result in the loss of all water contents from body.
